The objective of the Local 78 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee is to train Insulators to be skilled in all phases of the insulation industry, meeting the needs of Insulators in Alabama and throughout the United States and Canada.
The Apprenticeship program for Local 78 is a 4-year program. Each Apprentice must have a minimum of 144 classroom hours per year for a total of 576 classroom hours. In addition to the class room hours Apprentices will have 2000 hours per year of OJT/OJL for a total of 8000 hours.
Classes are held on Saturdays with 8 hours each class day. The classes are split into two groups. Group “A” comes to class on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month, while Group “B” comes to class on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month.
Upon completion, Apprentices will receive a Certificate of Completion from The U. S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship.
Minimum Requirements are:
1. Must be at least 18 years old
2. Must have reliable transportation
3. Must have a State issued I.D.
4. Must be drug free
5. A High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Applications must be done in person and are taken on every Tuesday, 8:30 am. - 2:00 pm.
