Local 78 Moving Toward Green Energy
Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers have been trending toward “going green” for more than 100 years! Also known as reusable energy, when it is properly installed, mechanical insulations saves money, improves lives and protects the environment. Since 1903 our lifeblood has put a major focus on the cost effectiveness of energy friendly insulation.
Properly designed and installed insulation on a mechanical system provides an excellent return on investment and payback through cost saving with new construction. Mechanical insulation creates efficiency. A more efficient industrial process, which uses mechanical insulation, will lead to the use of less energy, a lower energy bill and less pollution generated. This is commonly referred to as the 3 E’s: Energy, Economics and Environment.
According to the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE), properly installed mechanical insulation provides long-term energy efficiency, emission reduction, cost saving and safety benefits.
Mechanical insulation can reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, prevent loss of energy, control condensation, regulate the surface temperature and protect public health wellness and occupant safety.
The National Insulation Association is a trade association with approximately 350 members who has represented the mechanical and specialty insulation industry since 1953. Industrial facilities alone can generate more than $3.6 billion in energy savings per year and also reduce the 83 billion pounds of carbon dioxide.
