Asbestos Abatement:
Keeping your old facility safe for all

Local 78 members have procedures designed to control the release of asbestos fibers from the asbestos containing insulation materials. Turn to the experts to remove the asbestos from any residential, commercial or industrial building. We will properly test for any toxic mineral and follow strict regulations to remove asbestos and keep you and others safe from exposure.

Local 78 ensures our members and contractors are highly prepared to handle the removal and proper disposal of materials containing asbestos. Our members are certified, licensed and have experience with asbestos.

The Local 78 members plan, develop and monitor all abatement projects based on federal, state and local requirements. All the materials and equipment our contractors use are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

This can include:

  • Acoustic ceilings
  • Furnace insulations
  • HVAC ducts
  • Piping
  • Sprayed-on fire proofing
  • Sound insulation, floor and ceiling tiles
  • Commercial buildings
  • Hospitals
  • Industrial facilities
  • Power plants
  • Residential structures
  • Schools

Asbestos Exposure

If you are over 50 years of age and have been exposed to asbestos at work or at home and/or have smoked cigarettes, please consider preventative measures, such as a low-dose CT scan to help with early diagnosis.

All Local 78 members are encouraged to contact us at screening@insulators.org for more information and to find a screening location near you.

If the Local 78 Brothers and Sisters have any questions about lung cancer or the low-dose CT scan, please call our member advocate number at 240-460-4315, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
